Completing Helicopters

Today students competed to determine which helicopter design flew the longest.  It was a close contest in many classes.  The winners were rewarded with a prize.  Afterwards students wrote the conclusion for the helicopter lab and answered the questions on page 14 #1-8 in their composition books.

Warm ups week August 24th

Helicopters and quiz

today we took our first weekly Friday quiz.   We then set up our peer groups for our weekly quizzes.    Finally we set up our design for our created helicopters and completed our graphs from our helicopter prototypes.   A link to the helicopter lab can be found on August 27.

Helicopter Lab

We also started the helicopter lab which will be completed tomorrow with review questions and conclusion.  In your science notebook you should have this in your TOC (table of contents), title, purpose, data chart for both helicopters, data chart for helicopter with propellers cut, graph (use your checklist on page 2 of your science journal for the checklist) and questions from the lab.

lab books and safety lab

Today we completed our science notebook with our first activity: safety as seen in the PowerPoint from yesterday. The ten things that need to be labeled on the map for the safety lab are: 

fire extinguisher (2 of these)
safety shower
 safety goggles
 fire blanket
Broken glass box
Spill kit
Eye wash
Shut off valve
Broom and dustpan
First aid kit

Science Notebook Set Up

Good Day!!

Warm Ups this week and Fortune Fish

Today we completed the fortune fish lab from yesterday and turned that in to the inbox for a grade.  Also bells 2, 3, and 5 completed a safety poster for a grade.   The directions for the poster can be found here:  Safety Poster

We also completed the week with a warm up using our new warm up notebooks.

Fortune Fish Lab

Today we set up our warm up notebooks to be used in Geometry, Biology, American History and English 10.
We then took a pretest to determine what information was not retained from middle school to help better prepare us for the State test in May.
We then started the fortune fish lab with a review of the steps of the scientific method and controls and variables.

Today your 10th grade syllabus was handed out with needed signature pages. Please bring those back and turn them into me asap so we can begin to sign our out tablets and complete labs next week.
